How the material estimate works
The calculator converts the installed volume to cubic yards and adds your selected waste allowance. Estimated tons are cubic yards multiplied by the density you enter. Bulk density can change substantially with moisture, gradation and supplier, so use your supplier’s density when ordering by weight.
Common uses
Planning topsoil for lawn repair, mulch for beds, gravel or stone for driveways and pads, sand for base material, and compost for soil amendment.
